Why am I fundraising for this?
Most of us have been directly or indirectly touched by cancer. Ourselves, our loved ones, our friends are affected by the loss of what cancer steals from us.
A friend of mine was recently diagnosed with a cancer and is making it through the trials of this. A close relative was diagnosed. When I heard about these, I felt powerless to do anything. My friend has a supportive family and many good friends who are there for him. My close relative has a cancer that is dangerous, but slow growing and is currently 'wait and see'. This is so frustrating! What can I do?
I want to do something about it!
I decided to look for something that would make a difference.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has been raising money through the Team in Training program for many years. Their research and direct financial support to families has made a real difference in the lives and treatments of thousands of people. These people are our neighbors and friends.
The LLS makes a difference.
I ran a marathon with LLS a few years ago and now I am training for the "Nation's Triathlon" in Washington D.C. in September. This makes me feel better, raising money for an organization that is directly financing research and helping people cope with the financial difficulties brought on by this illness.
The research is effective and the financial help can be critical for families.
You can help make it happen!
Thank you,
Colin
