I haven't done an event with Team in Training for over a year. But I've decided to sign up for my 10th event with the Palm Beach Chapter of TNT to help raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
I'll be running 26.2 miles at the Space Coast Marathon in Cocoa Beach, Florida. The race takes place on Sunday November 29th, 2015, just 10 days after my 52nd brithday!

I've done many, MANY half marathons during the past 8 or 9 years. Half marathons are 13.1 miles - that's a pretty good race distance. I've had a bit of a problem training for the 26.2 miles of a full marathon. The only marathon's I've done so far were the Palm Beach Marathon in December, 2013, which was one month before the Dopey Challenge. The second marathon I did was in January, 2014, which was the final day of the 48.6 miles at the Dopey Challenge.
So both previous marathons I was probably over trained, slightly injured and very TIRED. My official times were HORRIBLE - over 6 hours for both. I think I mostly walked both marathons - too fast a start at first one, and hit the wall at about mile 10 and ended up mostly walking the remaining 16.2 miles. Injured right ankle about mile 12 of the second marathon, and mostly walked the remaining 14.2 miles.
So my goal for my 3rd marathon is to be able to mostly RUN the entire 26.2 miles, so as to resemble more of a REAL runner and less like an extra from the cast of the WALKING DEAD!
Team in Training is the main fundraising program for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I've completed 9 events with Team in Training since 2006, so the Space Coast Marathon will be my 10th event - WOO-HOO! While training for marathons, triathlons and bike rides with Team in Training, I've managed to raise over $55,000 for the Leukemia society.
Please consider making a donation to the Team in Training program to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. You can make a donation in my name, to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, through this Team in Training donation page.
ALL donations are welcome. The money helps fund research to find a cure and support programs for people diagnosed with leukemia and other blood cancers. Thank you for your support and, GO TEAM!
