Love you Dad
Mar 09, 2012
Three Years ago, my world came crashing down on me. I lost the most incredible father a girl could ask for. Dad struggled with a four year battle with Leukemia with courage and determination. When he was diagnosed in 2005, I got involved with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I was searching for answers, help, guidance, and support for Dad. Not only did LLS give me and my family all that I was needing, but they have never left my side since, giving me hope and encouragment to continue fighting for Dad, and for this cause. After losing my courageous father in 2009, I knew that I needed to honor his legacy and help make a difference in the face of blood cancer. My mission is not only to raise awareness, but to truly help make a difference for better treatments and cures to these horrible diseases.Though we are making significant strides, there is still a lot of work to be done.
I ran my first half marathon after having little to no running experience or desire. Today I've completed more than a dozen races including half marathons, triathlons, and my first Full Marathon. On April 22, I will be completing my second full marathon.... in Madrid, Spain! I run and I fight because my Dad no longer can. He faced Leukemia with such an unwavering spirit that has inspired me to do what I never imagined I could. He carried me every step of every mile, and I know with each mile completed and every dollar raised, he's helping me make a difference in the lives of those touched by blood cancer. And so, I continue to run for him.
For the past two years, my biggest fundraiser for LLS has been the Bachelor Auction for Blood Cancer. This year's auction will be Thursday March 29th from 5:30-8:00 at Cabo Flats in Downtown Gardens. Tickets are $25 and include a FREE drink and assortment of appetizers. The event has raised over $23,000 in the past two years and I'm hoping to raise more than ever at this year's event. If you'd like to attend, you can RSVP by making your $25 donation per person here and including your name in the memo line so that I can place you on the pre-paid VIP list for the event. If you're unable to attend but would still like to help you can do so through here as well.
Please help me support this mission and bring hope and faith to the families who have been or will be affected by Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Myeloma. Help me honor the memory of my beloved father and save lives.....one dollar, one mile at a time.
