Racing to Save Lives
1 mile at a Time
Welcome back to my Team In Training home page. As though you all didn't think I was crazy the first time around. First signing up for one half marathon, then changed it to the Marathon Mania (two half's and a full). Now I have not only signed up to do another half marathon at Disney in March, but I am also a mentor for our team. I think this is getting addicting.
As with every season with TNT, we have a new hero. Pictured here is me finishing my first 1/2 marathon in November 2009 and my new hero Courtney. Not only is she our honored hero but she is the niece of one of my good friends. So this season we are taking out all the stops and going all the way to raise money to find a cure.
Courtney was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) (a type of blood cancer) this past August. Courtney a very active and outgoing young lady. Fearless almost to a fault, is rarely afraid of anything and faced with battling this horrible disease. At only 12 years of age, Courtney will suffer through loosing her hair, mood swings & A LOT of pain. She will go thru more procedures and hospital visits in a few months than most adults will go thru in their entire lifetime. If our Princess Courtney can muscle through chemo and other therapies fighting this disease I can go a few extra miles to help the cause.
As most of you know from last season, I endured a little pain of my own (a broken leg). Nothing that will compare to what our hero's go thru daily. As with last season, I am training with Team in Training (TNT) to participate in an endurance event for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS)
The Disney Princess Half Marathon on March 7th, 2010
All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma & myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heros on our team, & we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training & help advance LLS's mission. Please help me to help my hero. Remember EVERY dollar counts and EVERY donation is Greatly Appreciated. - Thanks for your support!
