Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to Bre's Team In Training home page. I'm the non-Hairy on on the right. :)
What is That Crazy Girl Doing?
As I'm currently finishing up my Master's degree and now have a lot of free time on my hands, I thought to myself: "What should I do?" The answer came when a friend related a story to me about a woman who had joined Team in Training, when a co-worker asked this woman "Why did you run 10 miles today?" the woman responded: "Well, I woke up this morning and there was still no cure for cancer, so I ran." Since, I too woke up and realized there was no cure for cancer, I've decided to run too.
I'm training to run a marathon (yes that's 26.2 miles) as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure! I also feel that cancer research in any area could lead to an overall cure, so although my focus with Team in Training (TNT) is with the LLS in mind, I think we can all agree that any area where cancer research is funded, will eventually lead to a cure for all cancer.
I am attempting to raise $3200 for Leukemia and Lymphoma research, which essentially means that if 100 people can donate $32, I will make my goal. Another great option is for you to work as a running buddy with me (don't worry, this is the armchair kind) by donating a dollar per each mile I will run, $26.20.Please help me in this endeavor by making a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. No donation is too small...or too big. ;) Donations are 100% Tax Deductible! :)
Why I made the Commitment:
Everyone knows someone who has survived (My aunt Sue), battled or lost (My grandfather) their life to cancer. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the largest not-for-profit health organization dedicated to eradicating leaukemia. The Society supports research, patient serivces, education, and much more, and ensures that 75% of donations go directly to supporting patients and cancer research. Did you know:
I hope you will visit my web site often as I will be keeping a blog about my training, updating pictures and will be providing some raffles, etc... in order to raise funds. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!

This Saturday: I'll be running 12 miles!!! Whoohoo! Show how much you support me by considering donating a dollar per mile this Sat. Remember, you can donate more than once. :) Cheers.
Please check out this video of one of our Patient Honoree's. This woman's story is amazing and she is a great example of the lives you're all helping to save!
