Today was our first 5 miler! The team did great, I did really well, I was very excited. Tim, our coach, said to set out at a pace that we could maintain for the duration and so I settled in at around an 11 minute mile pace and finished strong in just over 55 minutes! It was cold, about 30 degrees, but luckily the sun was out and most of the path was clear and melted, a huge bonus in comparison to last Saturday so it went very smoothly. My legs were a little sore towards the end, but that's all part of the fun in it right?!
Special thoughts go out to Amber and her friend that past away from a brain tumor earlier this week. It's just another reminder as to why we're all out there Saturday morning and why this is so important. GO TEAM!
My first run with TNT was last Saturday and we did an awesome 4 miles as a team. Everybody finished the run/walk despite the icy trail and cold weather! I'm working on my solo runs this week and really looking forward to our next team run on Saturday for a great 5 miler!
Teams are made up of individuals. Without them, there is no team.
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I have a mission-to help find cures and more effective treatments for blood cancers. To accomplish that mission, I’m participating in a sports endurance event as a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training. Like the other members of TNT, I will be raising funds to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. I’m improving the quality of my life by participating and with your support, I can help improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well.
Over the last several years I've lost 4 members of my friends and family to cancer, and those that know me personally know that cancer is one of my biggest fears and running is one of my favorite past-times. I'm honored and excited to be a part of an organization that helps to raise funds to find a cure for a disease that has affected my life in so many ways. This year I'm running in honor of my friend Valerie who has been fighting blood cancer for years. She is by far, one of the strongest women I have ever met and continues to live her life to the fullest and is an inspiration to not only myself, but to her friends and family.
Please make a donation in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help advance the research for cures. Your contribution is tax deductible, below are links to the Team In Training fundraising page with access to the Tax ID number, a signed copy of the 501(c)(3) letter, and a copy of the W-9.
