Racing to Save Lives

(In Memory of Chris Buckmaster, Film Producer, 12/13/79-6/17/05) See Chris' documentary film "The C Word"

(In Honor of Lila Mohtadi, 8-year old, 8/11/2003-Survivor!)

(In Honor of Alex Wilkinson, 6-year old Warrior!!!)

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.

I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!

See my Team in Training Letter of Support for more information.

The image above is Chris Buckmaster who gave his life in his battle against leukemia. Chris is the producer of a documentary film entitled "The C-Word" that he produced (thanks to the donations of many including Paul Newman) to help families with children going through cancer treatment to understand the complexity of this journey. This is Chris near the end of the film, at his favorite spot looking out across the Sandy River Valley saying: "It's not just for people with cancer. It's for everyone. We only have one life to live. Make everyday good." Please consider making your donation through this site to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in honor of Chris Buckmaster and so many others who have given their lives in the fight against cancer.

Lila Mohtadi was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia at the age of 2 in 2006. Lila and her family endured 2 years of chemotherapy, countless hospital visits, and numerous blood transfusions. Thankfully, Lila is currently in remission and is a healthy, happy 8-year old who loves cats, playing with her stuffed animals and spending time with her family. She is in 2nd grade and doing well. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society provided valuable support to Lila's family during & after treatment in the form of financial support, education & counseling. Without the research provided by LLS, Lila's story would be different.

This year, I am also training, racing & raising support for Alex Wilkison and am honored to be a "Warrior 4 Alex." Alex battled with T-cell lymphoma for two years before he won that battle. Unfortunately, one of the chemo drugs he took induced genetic changes in his white blood cells. Six-year-old Alex is now facing a new battle with B-cell lymphoblastic leukemia. Cancer has given this little guy a one-two punch. As Alex's theme song states, he "won't back down." Alex had a bone marrow transplant about 3 months ago and so far his transplant is successful.
