Just wanted to give a quick update on how things are going. I have reached 50% of my fundraising goal and I thank everyone for their support in this. My training is going great and I am excited because we just recieved our wetsuits so we will start swimming outdoors. Hope the weather starts to get warmer!
I have my first picture of a training day. I am the middle one and my good friends Dacia and Loni (mother/daughter duo) and I are headed out for a Saturday bike ride. Hopefully there will be more pictures to post.
Looking forward to race day!
It has been an eventful couple of weeks. My favorite part happened just this last Saturday. Our team had a swim clinic with Shannon at Flow Aquatics. Shannon is an amazing teacher! She taught us all a better way of swimming that uses less energy but does not sacrifice speed. I feel I am catching on and look forward to our open water swims that will be happening in a few weeks.

I have received more awesome donations from some wonderful people! So I would like to thank the Gorringes, Brian Bandhauer (my husband's co-worker), Joy Uriarte (an old work friend, love her!), and Kurt Pfleger (Farmer's Insurance).
I am really lacking in the bike area and I need to pick it up a notch. That will be my new focus for the next 10 weeks of training.
Well I don't feel like I worked as hard this week as I did last week, but maybe I am getting used to the training, or maybe I really didn't work that hard!
My kiddo's have been sick this week, yep spring break was a blast, but I was able to squeeze in a few workouts.
March 27th-April 2nd

Tuesday - Spinning class and Swimming 1 hour
Wednesday - Nada, my 2 year old had another hit!

Friday - 17 mile bike ride
Saturday - 35 minute run with hill training. My legs are sore today!
I have been trying to incorporate Shannon, from Flow Aquatics, advice on my swim technique. I am doing very well and getting quite frustrated! It seems that everyone else on the team has gotten it figured out, but I am determined to get it this week!
This week I received lots of donations and I am so thankful for every single one of them! So a huge thank you to Fabulessly Frugal-the coupon guru's-, my cousins Tammy Castle and Eileen Mickelson, and friends Kayla Groat, Glenda Day, Verla Valentine, Alice Cottle, and Larry Bishop. This puts me at $977 for donations made so far. Isn't that awesome!
I will be adding my friend Alice Cottle's name to my race day jersey. She is in remission from Lymphoma cancer which was found after she broke her back a few years ago. I will try and get her story for you. She is one remarkable lady and all should know her!

This last Thursday was an interesting workout. The tri team met at the West Y and we had our swimming recorded underwater by Shannon at Flow Aquatics. It was an eye opening experience to see what I look like when I swim. Shannon was great and gave us many much needed tips.
This week I received donations from my husband's work. A huge thank you to Metageek, LLC and co-worker Ashok Gelal (I hear he makes yummy Nepalese food). I will also be racing in memory of Ashok's friend Seti Maya Rai, who died of Leukemia.
Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
WHAT:
I'm training to participate in a triathlon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training.
WHY:
All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
WHO:
I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers and especially in honor of my wonderful Aunt Jean who passed away from Leukemia in October last year. My Aunt Jean lived only one year with this disease because she was already in advanced stage of this disease when she was diagnosed. She passed away three days before her 59th birthday. My Aunt Jean had open arms for everyone she came in contact with and her door never closed. She dedicated her entire life to her family and friends. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure! I am dedicated to helping the LLS change the outcome for people like my Aunt Jean who suffer from Leukemia through medical research.
WHERE & WHEN:
I will be furiously fundraising from now until June 26th, which is the date of the Pacific Crest Triathlon in Sunriver, Oregon.
WHAT YOU CAN DO:
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. The lives of so many living with cancer are depending on new medicines and ultimately a cure and that is what the LLS is fighting to do!
I hope you will visit my website often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
