Had a couple of epic bike rides at the beginning of May before I strained my ankle. 2 weeks of swelling and pain, and back on the horse. Three more weekends of fun before the big race. California Pizza Kitchen event raise and additional $150.

Recommittment! Now comes the hard work. Bike rides are getting longer and the run's are challenging me more than I have ever been challenged. I'm not a runner but will gut this out. The schedule for May was just released with over 500 miles of biking, 90+ miles of running and finally open water swimming. What doesn't kill me will make me stronger. My next fundraiser is scheduled for May 27-29 at California Pizza Kitchen in Clackamas.

Work and weather have been crazy these last three weeks. I've tacked on over 150 miles on the bike and 20 miles running. Also, we will be having a party on April 1st in Sherwood. More info to follow.

Mileage is increasing. Saturday was a great tour of Highway 30 (Dirty 30), out past Kelly Point through St Johns. Fantastic views of Portland and Mt Hood made it even more enjoyable. Did a little run this morning (same as yesterday) and was 5 minutes faster. The week ahead looks to be wet but nothing I haven't trained iin before.

First full week of training done and I'm still alive. 2 nice 20 mile rides, averaging 17.9 MPH overall and a couple 3 mile runs that felt really good. We have new swim coaches this year who have a different focus than before. They are challenging us to kick more during the swim. I have a teammate who is a dolphin in the water and will need to make up 15 minutes somewhere...thinking the bike will be a good place to start. We had our honored teammate show up for the Saturday run. His mom spoke about his process and outlook. 10 years ago, he would have had a 30% chance of surviving. Now, he is in the 80% range.

Kick-off party was Wednesday night and was a sight to behold. 100's of people gathered for a common goal...to help find a cure. I did a quick 15 mile bike ride Friday in the beautiful weather. Saturday was our first official workout. The captains and mentors lead clinics on everything from exurtion level awareness to proper swim attire and showed all the fun things you need to train. We did a 2 mile run and learned names of fellow teammates. Sunday was our first organized bike ride. 20 miles around Sauvie Island. There are some major biking guys this year so game on!

Unofficially started some training this week. Had a nice 5 mile run with the dog and felt really good afterwards. Its been a little too wet for a bike ride so that's on hold for a bit.
I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
