Sweet 16!
September 1: I realized I hadn't reported on the SWEET 16 I did a few weeks ago. It was hard but it was so amazing to say that I accomplished it. I think the biggest thing for me is that I am able to push myself farther then I ever thought was possible. And honestly, the shorter runs in between (10 miles) are becoming easier and easier.
I never thought I would EVER say a 10 mile run would be easy. But I have found that with a lot of hard work and determination I can say that now. 10 miles is nothing! Now let's hope the next time I hit 16 miles it's just as easy. :)
The 16 miler was not complete without a proper ice bath - thank goodness for the Boise River!
Now that's the perfect icebath after the longest run of my life to date! Stay tuned, the big 18 is coming up soon!
August 12: Last Saturday marked the crossing over into Half-marathon zone. Yup, I hit 13.1 and kept right on going until 14 miles. It's pretty darn amazing to think I just ran a half-marathon last weekend. That means we have officially reached the half-way point. Training is awesome, I love my team, and the weekly hill runs and ALL of it. The long runs don't seem so long and horrible after the fact. Though during, they are rough. I ran for 3.5 and half hours to complete my 14 miles. That is truly amazing to me.
This week's mileage won't be so bad, just a short (lol) 9 miler! And then next weekend the big old 16 awaits. That's where it's going to start to get interesting. Like for REAL. :) Stay tuned!!!
July 28: Good news, we have pretty much reached the half-way point in training and fundraising. I am excited to report that I well on my way to reaching that finish line. Last weekend I ran the biggest run to date, the daunting 12 MILER. Yes, it sounds scary, but quite honestly it was a lot of fun and I survived without being in too much pain and only a few blisters to show for it. LOL!
Next up is the 14 miler scheduled for August 7th.
You can continue to follow me on my journey at www.destination262.wordpress.com for a more updated log of my running adventures!
Thanks again for ALL your support. It's what keeps me going through this awesome experience.
July 15: A lot of mileage has happened in the last few weeks as well as more running break throughs! I ran my first 10 mile run on July 8th and did hill training last night for the first time with the team.
I'm pushing myself through these runs and trainings and am so excited for what's in store next. Well that would be the exited 12 miler next weekend. EEK!
Your support means so much to me! Thank you and keep following me at www.destination262.wordpress.com for a constant update on my running.
June 26:The great 8 is what I dubbed Saturday's AMAZING run. I met up with the TEAM and busted out another record breaking 8 miles. I was high on life afterwards and didn't want to stop running. As I am reaching closer to my mileage goals and closer to my fundraising goals, I feel like I will be at the at starting line of the Nike Marathon in no time. Ready to run 26.2 miles for a cause. Thank you all for your continued support, I couldn't do it without you.
June 15, 2010: Today marks almost a month of official marathon training! I am happy to say that I have been putting in the miles every way I can. Most recently I made a trip to the Idaho Sawtooth Mountains with a group of friends (including Maria who is also training for the Nike Marathon with me) to run in a 62 mile relay race called the Sawtooth Relay!
You can read all about our adventures here.
I ran 11 miles in one day, spread out over the course of 3 different runs. That is the most running I have ever done in one day. And the kicker is that on October 17th I will have to run DOUBLE that amount. But it's all good, as it's all for a good cause! Keep following me at www.destination262.wordpress.com to hear about my running adventures!
Racing to Save Lives
As many of you know I began my adventures in running a little over a year ago. Since I started running, I found a whole new world and have made many positive changes in my life. I have also made a big decision which I want to share with you.
I have decided to take the plunge and run a full-fledged marathon. I will be running the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco, California on October 17th, 2010!
I decided to run this marathon for a plethora of reasons, one being a way to prove to myself and everyone that ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. A year ago I would never have even dreamed of participating in this type of event, but now I realize that I Can and Will achieve this enormous goal.
But I need your help. I am not only running this race for myself but for everyone out there that has been affected by leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma. In order for me to reach my destination of running this marathon, I have pledged to raise money to help this cause.
Can you please help me reach my goal by making a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
You may also visit my blog daily at http://www.destination262.wordpress.com to stay up to date with my marathon training.
I appreciate your help!
