Ride to the Country Bakery
Apr 30, 2013 by Ashley Gillespie
This past weekend I went on one of my favorite bike rides yet! When down visiting my parents in Eugene, my dad and I went on a nice 50 mile bike ride to the Country Bakery in Halsey, OR. The storefront is located in the home of a Mennonite Baker. Open only two days a week, I was shocked how many people were there in the middle of nowhere! My dad and I shared a delicious cherry pie and also brought home a small loaf of zucchini bread and a dozen snickerdoodles! If you haven't been to the Country Bakery I highly reccomend making the drive or bike ride! I wish that all my training rides were out to the Country Bakery now!
Less than 5 weeks to go before the big ride!

Last season was stressful and physically challenging but it was one of the most rewarding things I have done in my life. Signing up this year I knew it was going to be hard but I thought it would be easier since it was my second time. I was wrong!
I've struggled the last couple months to get motivated with training and fundraising. I'm not going to lie, I can count the number of times I've been on my bike since Lake Tahoe last summer on two hands. With two months to go before the century ride, I had to make the decision, do I keep going with TNT or do I give up. I talked to friends, family and co-workers to help me decide. The one question asked most to me was, "Why did you sign up to begin with?"
Why did I sign up with TNT last year and again this year?
TJ. He is what kept me pedaling when I didn't think I could last year and the reason I have decided I can't give up!
I'm excited to be riding with my team this Saturday after a few weeks off. 46.6 miles--wish me luck, I will need it!

I'm back at it for my second year with Team in Training raising money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society! This year I have recruited my friend and co-worker, Ali Davis to join TNT with me. Ali and I will ride with our team 100 miles in America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride on June 2nd in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
Thanks to all of my wonderful donors last year I raised $3605! This year I am going to work my butt off to hit my personal goal of $5000! There is no time for procastination this year! With help from each and every one of you, let's make this happen! Please donate, let's help find a cure!
Happy Birthday TJ!

Happy Birthday TJ! Today would have been his 30th birthday. TJ passed away July 6, 2011. He is one of the many who have been taking from this world too soon because of Leukemia.
In celebration of TJ's birthday I have officially registered for my SECOND season of Team in Training! GO TEAM!

Teams are made up of individuals. Without them, there is no team.
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I have a mission-to help find cures and more effective treatments for blood cancers. To accomplish that mission, I’m participating in a sports endurance event as a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training. Like the other members of TNT, I will be raising funds to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. I’m improving the quality of my life by participating and with your support, I can help improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well.
Please make a donation in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help advance the research for cures.
