Getting Closer.....

The countdown is ticking away until I run my first marathon. I am getting a little nervous, anxious and excited to take on this task. Now I am 65% to my fundraising minimum, and I am hoping to hit OVER 100%. I am not starting a "Finish Time" pool. For a minimum $5 donation, you can enter the pool. The winning time will get a $25 gift certificate to Starbucks, Best Buy or Road Runner Sports....your choice! The person with the closest time, without going over will win!

Thank you to all that have donated so far! I truly appreciate your support in this endevour. Without you, it wouldn't be possible!

53 Days.....

Only 53 more days until I hit the streets of Tukwila and Seattle to complete my very first marathon! Last weekend I hit 14 miles run, the longest I have ever done. This weekend I will surpass that. I have retired a pair of shoes, with another pair joining them soon. Running clothes have been replaced (because they are too big!) And I am almost halfway to my fundraising goal for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

My body has been injured and is recovering quickly. Of course this is nothing compared to those fighting cancer. Please join me in finding a cure for cancer.

Progress....

Update: March 29, 2010

I have officially surpassed my milage ran from February by over 20 miles. This past week alone I ran 26 miles. Saturday was the first long run I have been on that was not a race. I did 12 miles. Let me tell you, I am still sore! But there ar some amazing reasons I keep going. If you can think about one person that inspires you, and how motivated they you......multiply that by AT LEAST 100 for me! Each person on the TEAM is there for a reason. I am there because there were so many children that were taken away too soon from their parents. I am there because there are too many children that have suffered because of cancer. I am there so that in the near future we don't have to fear the C-word.

As scared and unsure if I can do it in June, I can't help but turn to my inspiration. I want to make them proud. So I may be slow, my running may be slower than my walk pace....but I promise you this I WILL NOT GIVE UP!

And now time for a happy dance! I am officially OVER halfway to my fundraising minimum!!!! (Yes, I am doing the running man at this moment, and now the sprinkler.) Recommintment paperwork comes this week, and I will not delay. As soon as it is in my hot little hands, I will have it filled out and turned back in. OH!!! I also earned a TNT Rock and Roll Seattle Road Crew t-shirt (only a limited number were available!) for hitting $1000.

GO TEAM!

Almost Halfway There!

Update: March 17, 2010

WOW! I can't express how excited I am to be participating with Team in Training. This is week 9 and I am almost halfway to my fundraising minimum. THANK YOU so much to everyone who has supported me. Your donations will help so many.

Last week our team lost one of our honored teammates , Hunter. At only four years old this child fought a battle that no one should ever have to face. One of the children I am running in honor of, Luke, also found out that his AML has returned. Please keep both of their families in your prayers, and those families that are also fighting or have fought this battle.

In addition to my training, I have now run in two races! The Shamrock Run 8K in Portland and (drumroll please!) The Disney Princess Half Marathon in Orlando! This was my first ever half marathon and by far the most distance I have ever run. It was amazing! It has made me even more excited for the full marathon in June!

FUNDRAISER!!!! Along with three other teammates, we are holding a Clothing Sale at Portland's Largest Garage Sale on April 17th. Here is the link: http://portlandgsale.com/index.shtm. Come visit us!

Racing to Save Lives

Welcome

to my Team In Training home page.

I'm training to

participate in the Seattle Rock and Roll Marathon as a member of The Leukemia &

Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In

Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin

lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in

honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are

the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the

ultimate finish line - a cure! I will be running in honor of : John, Pam, Maddie, Luke, Nate, Daymon, Krystal, Aimee, Stacey and Kristina. These honorary team members of mine are my personal heros!

Please make a

donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance

LLS's mission.

I hope you will visit my web site often.

Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your

support!

"I'm so proud of you Micki! You make me want to get in shape so I can do something like this. Working on 10N with you and everyone else was definitely the best part of residency. I still think about those kids all the time. Take care and good luck (and definitely let me know if you're headed to Long Island or anywhere in New England)!"
