Hi family and friends!
I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
Training Day 1: 7/26/08
I ran three miles today without stopping. I know that isn't much, but it is more than I've ever run at once in my life. I'm having a hard time right now seeing how I'll make it through 26 miles! My neck hurts and it hurts to walk, but that is nothing compared to what people fighting cancer go through every day.
Training Week 4:
Well, after an old knee injury kept me away from the pavement for a week, I am back in action. For the second Saturday in a row, I have successfully finished my 6-mile run. Yippee!!! I can't wait until next Saturday's 8-mile run. :) I am still the slowest person in my group, but I guess it isn't about how fast you run.
Training Day 61:
I think I found my muscles?
Training Week 13:
After my third running-related injury, I was finally able to run 12 miles today. I am almost half-way there, and I have two and a half months of training left. I will be up to 16 miles at the end of November and 22 miles at the end of December (if Santa doesn't put too much chocolate in my stocking).
