Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

Last year I started to think about all of the things the Pacific Northwest has to offer and I began making a list of things I wanted to accomplish in 2008. I traveled to Crater Lake for the first time, I tasted ice cream at the Tillamook Cheese Factory, I camped and hiked in The Columbia Gorge, I tasted wine in the Dundee Hills (best Pinot Noir for miles). This year my list has grown twofold and The Pacific Crest Triathalon is at the top.

Volunteering has been a passion of my since I was young and I try to choose an event or organization each year to give my time to. This year with my Interior Design studios, and working I couldn't see where I was going to fit it in. This got me thinking and I decided that training for a triathlon to support this great cause would be perfect. I could raise funds for medical research as well as check off my one of my lifelong goals.

I'm training to participate in Pacific Crest Triathlon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers.

I am off to swim practice!

March 11th 2009...

I slept nearly 10 hours after my exhausting swim practice. Training for this Triathlon may be the most challenging thing I have done. I feel like I am making slow progress and can barely imagine swimming over 1 mile in June. I am trying to stay focused on daily workouts , proper nutrition and rest so that I will be ready for the event.

A huge thanks to my coaches Jane and Lindsay who are helping me learn to breathe properly under H2O.

I just feel so fortunate to be able to train for this event. The sun was out today and I feel invigorated!

April 9th 2009...

Just got back from New Mexico where I was finally able to relax and visit with my mom! I worked on swimming and tried to run (The elevation was 7,000 ft compared to Portland 26 ft made a serious challenge on my lung capacity) I also skiied Taos mountain and hiked the RioGrande Gorge. It was the best trip ever . I am now back to my training schedule in Portland. I am going tfor a swim today at a community pool near my house.

We ran all 5 mies of the 8K without stopping ( the dixie cup of Guiness and mini doughnut gave me a burst of energy thru the finish line) We had a great time and I plan on participating in the Bridge to Brew as well as the Starlight run this spring!

May 12th, 2009...

Just over 6 weeks until the event! I am so excited. I have been doing Long intense Brick workouts. Biking 20-30 Miles and running 3-4 directly after. I feel great about my overall progress and look forward to begin Open Water swims next Monday!

As far as my fundraising, I am so Thankful for the support I have received. I made truffles for Mothers Day and brought in $250. I am encouraging everone I know to donate $5 and I could easily reach my goal. Companies are hesistant to donate during this difficult economic time and I am trying to find the time to have a garage sale, wine tasting at Torii Mor and a breakfast at Applebees. Check back regaring Faters day truffles!

June 7th, 2009...

Hey all! I am in the final month of training and fundraising. I biked 20 + miles and ran 6 today ! I am swimming a mile in the morning! I am really excited for June 28th! I am seling trffles and having a garage sale to raise the rest of the money if anyone wants to donate items or buy delicious truffles let mw know! Thank you all for the amazing support...

June 20th, 2009...

I had my first day of a fundraising garage sale. I am exhausted and need to get some sleep for tomorrow. Raising money has been a challenge for me but i am so Thank ful for all of the support and encouragement I have gotten from my friends and family. A special Thank you to Bryan & Clint for hosting our garage sale and to Penelope & Robert for helping get us organized with the sale and donating some great itmes, I am glad you both will be there next weekend! One more week!
