THANK YOU!
WE DID IT! Thank you to every one that made this possible. I can not begin to express my gratitude and I know that the patients whoes lives you have a made a difference in feel the same way.
I came into this venture with a bold heart. Ready to conquer the world and at times it seems the world was hell bent on conquering me. But through it all I have survived and on October 18th I will set out to walk as far as I can. Be it a half or a full marathon I will have done something incredible and every one of you will have been a part of that. TNT is part of something so much bigger than just one marathon (and there is no doubt in my mind now that there will be more than this one marathon - I'm hooked). So many people that have touched my life have battled blood cancer, and not all of them have won. For those lost I remember... for those still here, I fight for their lives.
I said in the begining that this experience had the power to change my life. I had no idea how true that would come to be. Always a girl with a kind heart, I have become a woman with the ability to make a difference. Any good psychologist will tell you that in order to truly love others you must love yourself first, but what does that mean? It means listening to your body when you're injured so that you can be an athlete for life, not just today. It means listening to your heart no matter how stubborn you are or how much you don't like what it has to say, you may not be abel to coplete the full marathon today but if you honor your body someday you will. And it means casting away all the preconceived notions of who or what you should be and embracing the person you see in the mirror and knowing even though you are a work in progress you are perfect in your imperfections.
I know what you're thinking...a marathon brought about all that? Yeah it did. In helping others and doing something healthy for myself I found what I was missing, the permission to allow myself to live.
I'm honored that you are all a part of my jounrey to the finish line of the NIke Women's Marathon. Thank you for all your support, and be ready to cheer me on at the next one cause I gurantee they will be more marathons in my future.
Kristin
