Racing to Save Lives

Thank you so much for visiting my Team In Training page! It is with great excitement that I tell you that this summer I am training for the San Francisco Nike Women's Marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. This will be my third marathon, and my most important. I have decided to run for a cause very close to my heart. I am looking forward to spending my summer running with the LLS team, and raising funds to prevent leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma. The funding raised goes towards important research to combat not only these diseases, but ultimately all cancers.

Team in Training is an endurance program. Its goal is to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through fundraising and advocacy. The mission is simple; to improve the quality of life for patients with leukemia and related blood cancers, to aid in the search for a cure, and to improve public and professional education, along with advocacy and community service.

Who I'm Running For

I am completing this marathon in memory of my dad. My dad is my number one inspiration and my number one hero. During my runs, I often think about what a wonderful father he was, and when the running gets tough, I think about how brave and strong he was during all his treatments and surgeries while he fought against brain cancer. I miss him everyday, and I can only imagine how proud he would be of me for taking on this challenge. He showed me by example to do what is right, and to always help others, and I am excited to participate in such a wonderful cause in his memory.

I am also running in honor of all individuals battling blood cancers and for the real heros on my TNT team and my chapter's honorees: Elisa, Florence, Amy, Eleanor, Darlene, Tim, Dan, Kim, Maddie and Mindy. I will be training, fundraising, and eventually racing in honor of these individuals.
