Super Bowl Block Pool
Jan 26, 2011 by Angelica Simmons

Now that we know who is playing in the Super Bowl, who wants to take part in a Super Bowl Block Pool? $10 per square and half the proceeds will go to LLS to help cure blood cancers. Get a chance to win some money and do some good at the same time. Let me know if you are interested!

I Still Need Your Help
Jan 19, 2011 by Angelica Simmons

Hi everyone!

I tried to keep my fundraising requests few during the holidays because I know everyone was busy and had lots of other things to focus on. But now I really need your help. My race is in 3 weeks, and technically I am supposed to have all my fundraising finished by this Friday! I am going to continue running after this race, but I won’t be fundraising again so these pleas for your support will soon be over.

Here are a few ways you can support me:

  • Make a donation here on my fundraising website: Just click "Make a Donation" to the right (don’t forget, any donation here gives you a chance to win an item hand knit by me)
  • Enjoy a comedy show and lunch at the Brea Improv on Sunday, January 30th: http://www.adambconnors.com/tnt/ (be sure to put my name in the TNT Participant box when you order tickets so I will get credit)
  • Participate in my Super Bowl Block Pool: $10 per square (half of the proceeds will go to my fundraising and the other half to the winner of the pool). Contact me if you are interested in participating. If you would like to help me out, you can also run a block pool at your work or amongst your friends on my behalf.
  • Pass this information along to your friends so they can have the opportunity to support my efforts as well.

I do greatly appreciate all your support and well wishes with my efforts. I truly believe in this cause, and in addition to losing people to leukemia and lymphoma, I have met people that have survived because of the wonderful things that LLS has done. In fact, two weeks ago, we had an all team practice where the marathon, triathlon, and cycle teams from Orange County and the Inland Empire met together for our Saturday morning practice. Before we went out for our training, we had the pleasure of hearing from John Gronnel, who just recently finished his second battle with lymphoma thanks to LLS. If you want to understand how inspirational this program is and how wonderful it makes you feel to help out, just watch this video – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qm4pPUfRQUM

We run in honor of those who are currently fighting the disease and in memory of those we have lost. Help me support LLS so that there can be many more people like John Gronnel who are surviving this battle.

Thank you for all your support! Go TEAM!

Running to Save Lives ... again ... and repeat

Welcome to my Team In Training page!

After the Nike Women's Half Marathon in San Francisco, I decided that I would repeat the process. I have decided to train with Team in Training again for the Surf City Half Marathon in Huntington Beach on February 6, 2011. In addition to training for the race, I have committed to again raising funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.

Once again, I am completing this event in memory of two people in my life who lost their battles with lymphoma and leukemia:

  • Monsignor Malachy McGinn
  • Charles E. Whitesell

and in honor of all individuals who are currently battling blood cancers.

These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Please help me meet my personal goal of raising $2,000 for LLS by making a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. Every dollar helps and I am grateful for any support you can provide. Please share this page and my goal with your friends and family so they can support my journey as well.

You can follow my progress in training and fundraising here and on my blog. I try to keep you regularly updated on my progress.

Your support, in every form, means so much to me and will keep me running and raising funds. Thanks for your support!

Angelica
