Abu Sumayyah's Race to Save Lives

June 28, 2009 may go down as one of the more important days of my life. It is on that day that I made a decision that insha'Allah (God willing) will impact my life as well as others. I have decided to join The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training.

As a member of Team in Training I've made two commitments. The first is that I will participate in the Santa Barbara Half-Marathon (13.1 miles) on November 7, 2009. What has been a secret up until now is that I have been training quietly by running 3-4 times a week. On August 9th, I participated in my first 5K Race (3.1 miles) at the OC Fair and I finished it in record time. I've also shedded a few pounds along the way and I have been all the better for it.

The second commitment that I made as a member of Team in Training is that I will meet my fundraising goal of $2,200. All of us at Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. With every donation you make, we will be that much closer to finding a cure. The individuals who are battling blood cancers need your help. And I need your help.
