My teammate and I have been working our butts off, fundraising, for the past 4 months. The deadline is in 8 days and I could really use some help! I’ve sent out donation requests to all of my friends and family. I’ve also posted on public websites like Craigslist and the Pennysaver website. We still have two weekends of fundraising events planned, but only 8 days until the money is due. I’m hoping to get a response from some of my friends and family (and strangers) who weren’t able to participate in my fundraising events. If I could get 127 people to donate $20, I’d reach my goal. I’m not sure I know 127 people that have $20 though??

My fundraising partner and I have several items we are going to be offering up on silent auction. LLS is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services. It is vitally important to raise funds for LLS because every four minutes someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer and every 10 minutes someone dies. In addition, leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children and young adults under the age of 20.

It’s taken some time, but I’ve hit 30% of my fundraising goal. When I think about how much I have to go it seems very daunting, so I’d rather focus on how far I’ve come. This is the first fundraising event I’ve participated in at this level. I’ve participated in a lot of 5K’s throughout the years and raised $100-500 for each of those events. Doing a full marathon AND raising $6000 in 4 months is really a HUGE challenge. This process is a LOT of work, but in the end it’s worth it and I’m proud of what I’m doing.

My fundraising partner and I have a ton of fun events planned. We are trying to plan events that people would want to participate in anyway, fundraiser or not. We have gathered a lot of amazing prizes to reward participants and offer incentives to participate. As always I want to thank every one of you who have participated in our events and/or donated to our fundraising efforts. We have a long way to go yet, but couldn’t have come this far without you! I hope my constant advertising isn’t becoming bothersome, but I need to keep you all interested and participating and spreading the word!!

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I have a mission-to help find cures and more effective treatments for blood cancers. To accomplish that mission, I’m participating in a sports endurance event as a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training. Like the other members of TNT, I will be raising funds to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. I’m improving the quality of my life by participating and with your support, I can help improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well.
