What can I say to my WONDERFUL friends who have been so GENEROUS in the past as I again ask for your generous donation? I have been wondering how on earth can I ask you again for your financial support, but I don’t have a brilliant answer to this question. All I can say is that your PAST SUPPORT has been so GREATLY APPRECIATED and I am thankful for your generosity.
Thank you for BELIEVING in me and for your contributions to help find CURES and improve the lives of patients and their families. LEUKEMIA is the #1 cancer that kills CHILDREN and strikes 10 times as many adults.
As many of you know, I began my experience with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training in 2007, when I ran the Nike Women's Half Marathon for the first time. I had such a great time training, fundraising, and running the half marathon that I decided to do it again in 2008. Last year, I ran the marathon for the 3rd time, but without Team in Training. While running, I knew something wasn’t right; I didn’t have the same enthusiasm as in previous years. I took a good look around and all I could see were purple TNT jerseys and TNT fans. When I crossed the finish line, there wasn't that exhilarating feeling, that sense of fulfillment. I vowed that the next time I ran, it would be with Team in Training, fighting to eliminate cancer.
This has been one of the most stellar experiences of my life, but my overriding motivation is the scourge of cancer, this year even more. I chose this charity three years ago in support of Chase Quickel who was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML). Chase passed earlier this year on January 5, but not without a fight; anyone that knew him or of his story knew that as well. His bravery, perseverance, and unbreakable spirit were and continue to be a true inspiration to all. Please visit his website to learn more about his story: www.chasecq.com
Many of you have shared personal stories of loved ones in your life who are also fighting their own battles or who have fought in the past. I would welcome the opportunity to honor them.
"Honoring Your Hero" with a $1000 donation you can have Chase's name or your own Honored Hero on the back of our Marathon singlets and Cycle jerseys (about 550 participants). Please contact me regarding this neat opportunity!
* Corporate sponsorship available, which has the opportunity to make significant impressions via media outreach, apparel, direct mail, and internet promotions.

If you have contributed in the past, you have made a difference in someone’s life.
Research changes the outlook for patients. From 1960 to today, the five-year survival rate for Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL, the most common form of childhood leukemia) has improved from an appalling 4% to over 80%! Gleevec, developed with LLS funding, is an effective cure for Chronic Mylogenous Leukemia.
One of my favs:
“The fight against cancer isn’t up2 somebody else.
It’s up2 me. It’s up2 you. It’s up2 every single one of us.
Every time you give, you have the power to accelerate collaborative cancer research to save lives now. We can’t waste another minute. We can’t lose another life. This is where the end of cancer begins.”

I thank you all for YOUR efforts and time, it truly is GREATLY appreciated!!!
