Team "Gubben" Pain


Welcome to Team Gubben's Team In Training home page.


We recently participated in The Nike Women's Half Marathon, on October 18th, 2009 in San Francisco, CA as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. As part of Team In Training, we are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.


We completed this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers, but specifically Alexander Pain, our son, who was diagnosed with Leukemia (ALL) in October 2008 at the age of 4.


About 5,430 people in the United States were diagnosed with ALL in 2008. 50% of these cases were children. It is the most common type of leukemia in children under age 15.


Participating in this race was a great way to show support to the Society in return for all the care and love Alexander has received so far from Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), family, friends, colleagues and others in his battle to recover from this life threatening disease. Alexander started back at school Monday October 26th, 2009, we are thrilled, exactly one year since the diagnosis. It is hard to believe.


Your donation helped us support our participation in Team In Training and helped advance LLS's mission. The Nike event alone raised more than $14 million for the casue.
