Chasin' Dreams Team

Welcome to my Team In Training home page. Or welcome back to those of you who donated last year.

I don't think this webpage is big enough to tell you about the amazing time I had last October at the Nike Marathon. It was really moving knowing I was helping others fight their battle with cancer. I had a dinner event the night before the race and heard many stories of those with cancer; I left in chills, looking for the sign-up sheet for anything I could help out with.

So bad news, Chase, my honored teammate from last year is still fighting his leukemia cancer!

The good news, as long as he is fighting so am I! For my second year I will participate as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training.

I will also do the same marathon, (well half-marathon, I don't have the best knees, so I've been told) the Nike Women's San Francisco Marathon this fall benefiting LLS.

If anyone is interested "Honoring Your Hero" with a $1000 donation you can have Chase's name or your own Honored Hero on the back of our Marathon singlets and Cycle jerseys (about 550 participants). Please contact me regarding this neat opportunity! There is also corporate sponorship available.

Chase's mother Kim journals on a website about Chase's battles and victories; I encourage you to visit the site, it gives a truthful view of a mothers own journey with a son's crusade with cancer.

Chase's Story made the front page o the LA Times! Check it out!

So our team is about 25% into our training, so far not so bad. As the summer days increase in temp. I hope they will move training earlier on Saturday mornings! I hope now to start increasing my weight lifting training to help with the increase in miles in the next few weeks. What's nice about the team is this year we have a new coach who has assigned a few different trails for training, apposed to the one trail we used last summer. My left knee, the one I had surgery on in November is holding up well, I've noticed an increase in inflammation, something I hope with building strong quads will be treated.

Our coach told us it takes 3 weeks to start a habit, I keep telling myself that to push through. Happy Summer!

Yahoooo! I made it to the half way point! I've signed and turned in my recommitment papers to our campaign manager, which states I am commited and will continure training and raising funds for the Nike Marathon for the next 10 weeks. We've increased our mileage as well as an earlier training time, 6am! It hurts but I keep reminding myself the reason why I am out running! Once I get past the first four miles the next four miles are nice and steady. :)

I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back to see my progress. Thanks for your generosity and support!

Thanks Chantelle, may your run be a testimony of the tenaciousness to fight this disease and come up with more research and inevitably, a cure. With love and admiration, Kim Quickel"
