Westchester Olympic Distance Triathlon

.9 mile swim, 25 mile bike, 6.2 mile run

I was hit by an out of control speeding car on September 3, 2009 while jogging in downtown Jersey City. I thought getting knocked out of one's shoes was an old wives tale, though I landed about twenty five feet from my sneakers. I realize how incredibly lucky I am that torn ligaments were the worst injury. Since then, three new ligaments were stuck in my knee, and six months of rehab later - I'm training hard for an endurance event.

While that traumatic evening has given me reason to become a better person, and to naturally want to prove myself - this race isn't about me. It's about the many people who have suffered far worse, and for those that still do. It's difficult to believe that these fundraisers can make a difference, but they do! I've come a long way over the last few months and I'm so grateful for all your support. I want to switch the focus to helping others… and, I hope that challenging myself like this will encourage you to throw a few bucks towards finding a cure.

I'm training as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of my uncle, Jehuda Frydman, who is a strong survivor and all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
