Racing to Save Lives
ABOUT ME
I'm training to participate in a marathon with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. I’ve never been a runner, but I wanted to run a marathon. I joined TNT in February and hope to be ready for the June 6 Marathon! I have been so wonderfully supported by my team, inspired by the stories I have heard, and encouraged by friends. As of right now my longest run was 14.5 miles and my best endurance time is 10:30 min mile. I am blessed to not be running in honor of a loved one. I did choose my race number to be 44-45; Ernie Davis’s retired jersey numbers.
ABOUT LLS
All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure! Research over the past 48 years has nearly quadrupled the survival rate. In 1963, the five-year relative survival rate among Americans with leukemia was 14 percent. In 1999 overall relative survival rate was 54 percent. There is something we can do, and it does help!
APPRECIATION
Times are tough now financially and there are so many causes that need support. If you can make a donation, any amount is appreciated. I will be happy to open my page and see that someone chose "other" and gave a one dollar donation. If you can't give, your words of encouragement are special! Thanks for your support!
