Running so you don't have to!
Hi Guys!
I have decided to challenge myself in 2010 with a New Year resolution of completing a half-marathon. Resolutions are great for personal growth, but I wanted to make my resolution a whole lot more meaningful and benefit more than just me. I took the plunge and signed-up to train for the San Diego half-marathon with Team In Training!
**02/05/10** Then I lost my mind and decided to train for the FULL marathon in San Diego!! I plan to run the More Magazine | Fitness Magazine Women's Half-Marathon in preparation for the event, which will fulfill my original goal. Then I will take it to the next level in the name of curing cancer. WOOT!
As a member of Team In Training Program, I will not only be contributing to my own personal growth and health: I will be helping those afflicted by leukemia, Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and myeloma. I cannot do it simply by running alone (if only curing cancer were that easy!). I need your generous support to reach my fundraising goal.
Some important things to know about your donation:
- 75 cents of every dollar raised goes directly to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society funds.
- Patient Services funds go directly to patient care and counseling, often helping to pay costs not covered by insurance.
- Research funding has helped to develop treatments that have increased the survival rate of children suffering from Leukemia from 4% in 1960 to over 85% today.
- Your donation is, of course, 100% tax deductible.
Thank you for considering a donation! Completing a half-marathon is really nothing compared to the challenge of fighting cancer (or at least I will keep telling myself that when I wanna quit at mile 11).
PS: You can watch me sweat through my training & (hopefully) cross the finish at http://laura.gpowered.net/
