Racing to Save Lives
My friend Basia was diagnosed with leukemia a few months ago. She's training for the half marathon in January, and I'm next to her every step of the way. Well, trying to be. She's pretty fast.
Basia's ability to train for this big physical challenge during her treatment is a testament not just to her amazing strength (which she has, in spades) but to the amazing advances in cancer research.
Participating in this half marathon is my attempt to be there for my friend, and to raise money to continue the research that is saving her life. We're raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of Basia and all individuals who are battling cancer, and in loving tribute to my friends Lauren, Don, and Steve.
