....A big Thank You to everyone who has supported the cause to date!...I really appreciate it!!! I figured I'd post a quick update of my takeaways so far with TNT: (1) The coaches in the program are top notch and have made me a better athlete, (2) I've been lucky to find a couple great athletes (and now friends) on the team to push me, especially in the long-distance running category, and (3) The stories I have heard over this summer really have made me appreciate life and the value I place on my health. Here's what my last few weeks have been looking like:
Sundays: 40 mile bike rides across the GW bridge then up the Henry Hudson river parkway in NJ (If you haven't had a chance to ride across the bridge, i recommend it for one of the most spectacular views of Manhattan, with the HH parkway being one of the most peaceful (and hilly) rides in the city).
Mondays: Strength Training (legs) with light cycling
Tuesdays: 4-6 mile tempo runs in Central Park (most challenging day of the week)
Wednesdays: Day off or Swim Day
Thursdays: Interval Training (sprints to pushups/pullups to sprints)
Fridays: Strength Training (arms) and/or light cycling/swim
Saturdays: Either biking or Bike+Run aka "BRICKS" (Next weekend Coney Island open water swim to run)

Rich Is Taking On The NYC Triathlon (And The Hudson River)!
The first stop on my mission on behalf of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is the 2013 New York City Triathlon on Sunday, July 14th. I will be swimming 1500m (~1 mile) in the Hudson River, biking ~25 miles on the West Side Highway, and will end by running a 10K (~6 miles) on my home turf in Central Park. My mission is simple: (1) to raise money to help improve the quality of life for patients and their families, and (2) to challenge my mind and body past my comfort zone.
Why did I choose Team in Traning (TNT)? Through the short-time I've been involved with TNT and The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, I have already heard countless stories from survivors and those currently battling cancer regarding how much the funds we raise are helping to save their lives or a life of a loved one. That is why I am honored to fundraise for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, with my team, for groundbreaking blood cancer research to find a cure and for patient services to help those battling Lymphoma, Leukemia and Myeloma today.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. After 25 years, 570,000 participants and $1.3 billion raised, let's keep fighting. Any contribution you make will help make a difference to advance research for cures. Without your generosity, myself and members of my team would not be able to complete our events.
Also, thank you everyone for your continued support! Without your belief and support in me I would not be able to make it to the finish line.
"Prepare for greatness, and greatness will come."
-Rich
