Racing to Save Lives

Hey all everybody,

Team In Training is in the home stretch for training. It is hard to keep track, the weeks are defined by how far we are from race day, and how my legs feel at this moment. I think we have 5 1/2 weeks left.

In that time we are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives by spending a Saturday swimming, biking, and then very foolishly running all across Manhattan in a couple months.

I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers, and in memory of my friend and classmate "Honest Jon" Harding. Jon was a terrific storyteller, and an even better person. Every day I am on the bike, or defying my natural state of tree-like inertia, I trick myself into going further than my body wants by thinking about Jon, about the honor teammates (survivors in the truest sense), and the thousands of others Tnt and LLS are helping. Somehow it really does allow you take just one step just one more step just one more step.

Anything to help advance LLS's mission is guaranteed to save and improve lives so please, make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training. Your donation gives LLS the ability to do amazing to help, support, and save the lives of so many people each year. Just a couple of examples:

-A donation of $50 makes possible a Family Support group with a trained facilitator where comfort can be found and experiences can be shared among patients and family members.

-A donation of $100 helps supply laboratory researchers with supplies and materials critical to carrying out their search for cures.

10% STORIES- THE ADDED BONUS

In the day to day I am a writer, and training for a triathlon is no excuse for not doing a bit of the old pen to paper, so to further entice you all, and to further honor Jon's memory, every time I raise 10% of my fundraising goal, I am going to write and post a story on the internet. I'll be linking to them here, so be sure to check back, see how I am progressing, and read the new stories as they go up.
