Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page! Please share with friends, coworkers & family members!

I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.

I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!

Your contribution has a tangible impact!

  • A donation of $100 helps supply laboratory researchers with supplies and materials critical to carrying out their search for cures.
  • A donation of $1,000 makes possible one- on-one conversations with health care specialists who provide patients with information about their disease, treatment options, and helps prepare them with questions for their health care team.
  • No donation is too small. Please share what you can - clean out those change jars, look under seat cushions, forgo that double light extra syrup mocha choca latte this morning, and ante up to help fight blood cancers!

Help fight these statistics:

  • Every 4 minutes, someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer.
  • Every 10 minutes someone dies from a blood cancer.
  • Leukemia is the most common cancer among children & adolescents!
  • Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children and young adults under the age of 20.

*Facts and statistics from Leukemia, Lymphoma, Myeloma Facts 2009-2010, June 2009.

Help increase these statistics!

  • The 5-year survival rate for ALL (acute lymphocytic leukemia) has greatly increased over time and is now nearly 80%, primarily due to advances in treatment.
  • Five-year survival rates of children with AML (acute myeloid leukemia) have also increased over time to about 40%.
  • Help get these numbers up by sharing a donation!

*Facts and statistics from cancer.org

Additional Fun with Fundraising:

  • • Happy Hour details: Fundraising Event at Walter's Bar was May 20th
  • I am also selling real estate and "advertising space" for this event. Much like NY real estate, it's going to be pay by the square inch. :) On race day, I will happily tatoo your name or the name of a loved one, or any text you choose on me.
  • Huge Music Event on June 17th - hosted by Team Yahoo! - email for Tickets!!
  • Open to other ideas!
