Help Support My Goal!
In early December 2008, this 24-year-old girl (who has since turned 25) decided to work against her natural couch potato tendencies and make a drastic change in her life. She signed up to train for a triathlon.
On one hand, the goal of completing the NYC Triathlon is completely selfish. Ever since leaving high school and being involved in some level of sports, I have known that I need to incorporate regular exercise into my routine. The problem has always been simple: I hate it. Even being on the swim team, which I am now really glad I did, took a lot of not-so-gently encouragement from my parents. Being a goal oriented person and already having an affinity towards the water and cycling, more than running at least, I thought it might be a good idea to train for a triathlon, thereby forcing three sports and 6 day-per-week workouts into my routine. So far, I am absolutely loving this change in my life, in my body, and in my attitude and look forward to the challenges that await.
On the other hand, this goal is about way more than just me. By contributing money==and any amount helps==you not only show me that you support this dificult physical challenge but, more importantly, you donate money towards research and and patient services for Leukemia and Lymphoma. Blood cancer has becoming an increasingly treatable disease and, with every dollar contributed, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society gets that much closer to finding a cure.
So, you can donate for me, you can donate to help cure cancer, or you can donate for both reasons. Or neither. As long as you donate!
If you want to follow along with my training, I am documenting the journey on a blog: http://triingtotrain.wordpress.com/

Thank you in advance for all of your support!
