Hello Friends!
As most of you know, my father lost his battle with Leukemia 10 years ago this June (June 30, 2003 to be exact). Since 2007, I have been running marathons to raise money in his memory and to help advance the Leukemia & Lymphma Society's cause. To date, I have raised over $20,000.00 toward research and finding a cure.
This time I wanted to do something really special, so I decided to run 5 marathons in one year, finishing up with the New York City Marathon in November. 2013 is also special because it is the 25th Anniversary of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Their first event was actually the NYC Marathon 25 years ago!
I'm setting my goal high this year and trying to raise $10,000.00 -- $1000 for every year that we've gone without having Dad's big smile in our lives. I'm asking you, my friends, to help me reach this goal. Whether you can give $5 or $500, every contribution helps in a major way.

I haven't heard, written, or said the name "Sammy Day" since I was in grade school with your dad. We started together in the first grade and went all the way through high school together. In fact, we walked down the aisle together at our graduation. Sammy Day was a great kid and Sam Day was a fine young man. I considered him a good friend. While we lost touch after high school I was so very saddened to hear of his passing. We've lost too many fine classmates way too early. By the way, my older sister was/is good friends with your Aunt Pam and your grandma was her girl scout leader. Small town - good place to grow up. Best wishes - Gayle Graves Holten "

I think we had more fun than any of the rest of the bunch.

We have never met, but I am your Cousin Roxann Lail Clark from Erlanger. Your Grandfather Alfred and my Dad (Bill Lail) were great friends and close cousins. They always were stirring up the OLD relatives with their tricks. My brothers and I always looked forward to the Family Reunions to spend time with your Dad and your Aunt Pam. I think we had more fun than any of the rest of the bunch.
In the past several years, I have lost both brothers and my husband to Cancer as well. I hope this donation will help in some small way. I wish you luck in your quest - I know your Dad is very proud of you as is the rest of the Family.
