NYC Marathon - here I come!!

Around mile 21 of my first marathon (New Jersey, 2009), exhausted and hurting, I swore to myself I would never go through that torture again. And then I ran the Chicago Marathon in 2010. And even though it was a miserable 85 degrees, this time I knew I wasn't done - there was at least one more race I needed to run.

And so I'm proud to announce that I have officially secured an entry for 2011 New York City Marathon. Words cannot begin to explain how excited I am to run the streets of the city I now call home.

I know that running on familiar turf, with friends & family cheering me on will provide more motiviation and support than I've felt in any of my previous races. But even more motivating is the knowledge that once again I will be raising money for the Leukema & Lymphoma Society.

This society is incredibly important to me for several reasons. A few years ago, my mom was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Thankfully, the disease was discovered very early, and she has since been in remission.

My dear friend Elissa Froman, has unfortunately faced a bit more of a challenge and is currently still battling Hodgkins lymphoma.

Finally, my mom's friend Arnold recently passed away after a 3 year long battle.

On November 6th, I will be running in honor of all of them.

Thanks to countless generous donations, I have so far rasied over $7,000 for this amazing cause! To everyone who has donated in the past - THANK YOU! Your support has been amazing.

Please help me in my fundraising efforts to help find a cure for leukemia, Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma research, and patient assistance programs. Every little bit goes toward helping improve the life of someone in need. Every dollar I raise above my $1,250 minimum will go 100% to LLS - so let the fundraising begin!
