26.2 miles! I can't believe that I have actually done this. I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you again to all of those who supported me through this amazing experience. Your support through your donations and your words of support carried me through the race.

Running the NYC marathon has been a personal goal for me so some time. There are so many patients and families that have touched me during my career as a RN. I decided to run for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society because of a few of these patients and their families that I hold very close to my heart. EW, AJ, HC, SD, ES are all children that were "my patients". I think about them and their families often. What they should be doing, what milestone they should be achieving, if their lives had not been cut short due to leukemia. I don't believe that it is possible to make leukemia or lymphoma go away altogether. But I do believe that there are answers- there are ways to make cure rates 100%. There are ways to make sure that families will have their loved ones to celebrate every birthday, every holiday, every day with. The Leukemia Lymphoma Society is supporting the research that will make this happen. They are supporting the patients and their families during their journeys with cancer. Please support them, in any amount, to make this goal a reality.

If you haven't been able to donate there is still time, check out my page.

If you can't donate at this time please consider the Leukemia Lymphoma Society in the future when you may be able to do so. This organization does amazing things...please support them so they can continue to do so!

I ran 20 miles today!!!!

And I feel pretty good!

It was a great run in beautiful Scarsdale along the Bronx River Path. It looked like it was going to rain but held off. I was slow...but I still did it which is pretty amazing! I know for sure that I can do the full marathon- what's another 6.2 miles?!?? This was a huge mental and physical milestone.

I owe a huge thank you to Esther, Joe and Ben for watching Jude and Henry so I could do the run as Jon was traveling in Japan. They even had the boys spend Friday night in NJ so I could get a good night's rest! This marathon wouldn't be happening if it wasn't for all of their amazing help. They are the best.

The marathon is getting closer and closer as is my fundraising deadline. Any amount is greatly appreciated and will go towards to an amazing cause. Lots of thanks again to all of those you have been kind enough to donate and thanks in advance to all of those who are going to.

Thanks again!

Love, Amelia

Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page!

Who thinks I can finish a marathon ?!!?

I'm training to participate in the ING New York Marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

I've worked in pediatrics at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center for over 10 years. I have been fortunate enough to take part in the care of so many incredible families who go through so much. The Leukemia & Lymphoma society is working hard to help many of these families and I am proud to be part of this group.

Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.

I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!

Love, Amelia

Hi everyone!

Thank you so much for all of you who have been able to donate! It has been a huge help and I cannot tell you how much I appreciate it. And to those who haven't there is still time!

Any amount goes to an amazing cause!

Training is going well. It has been so hot but I have been keeping up. Last weekend I ran 10 miles...yay! This weekend the goal is 11 and we are running through the streets of NYC as Park Avenue is closed due to the Summer Streets series that NYC holds. Should be very cool. We have also been working on hill training this month- this is so much fun to do in the heat and humidity!!! And the Bronx 1/2 marathon is coming up on 8/28. Who would have ever thought that my calendar would be so full of running events!

Before every workout someone gets up and gives a "mission moment" explaining why they are running with TNT. These stories are a constant reminder that we need to keep fighting and raising money to find a cure. Please join me in this fight and help me prevent more people from losing their loved ones to these terrible diseases! The money you donate will help the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society fund valuable research and provide essential patient services. Any donation – no matter how small -- can truly make a difference. When a cure is finally found, you will be able to say that you were part of it!

Thanks so much everyone! And I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer!

Love, Amelia
