Hi everyone!
Believe it or not, this past Sunday I crossed the finish line of the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco. The course was no joke- FULL of up hills and down hills- but I completed all 26.2 miles. I joined over 5,000 other Team In Training participants from around the country in completing the race and raising $18 million for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society!
I am also proud to share our New York City team accomplishments. This weekend, our team alone had over 200 finishers and reached $930,000 in our team fundraising. But WE AREN'T DONE YET. We won't stop fundraising until we reach our team goal of $1 million! That means we have $70,000 to go...and we need YOUR help.
If you haven't had a chance to donate yet, please consider making even just a $5 donation to help our team reach out final goal. Skip your grand vanilla latte just one morning, and turn your $5 coffee into $1 million! Your money will go directly to The Society's mission- to better the lives of cancer patients and their families and find a CURE to not only blood cancers, but ALL cancers. Please don't wait. Make a donation today.
If you've already donated, please know how much your money is appreciated. But don't take my word for it. Hear it from someone who has benefited directly from your generosity- my teammate, half marathon finisher AND leukemia survivor Lindsay Osborn: "It's funny that after four years of withstanding the challenges of leukemia that it takes a journey 2600 miles across the country to realize how far I have come. After running the half-marathon with my (amazing) teammates Sunday, I took a moment to reflect on how truly lucky I am. I owe my survival to exceptional medical care and my happiness to extraordinary support from loved ones. So I am ever grateful to LLS, which significantly funds research and services to ensure that the quality of life for those affected by cancer remains high. See you at another finish line soon TNT teammates!"
Thanks again for your support. GO TEAM!
Sarah Examples of how YOUR donation can make a difference... A donation of $25.00 provides patients and their loved ones with FREE booklets that contain up-to-date information on their disease and help them make informed decisions about their treatment options. A donation of $50.00 makes possible a Family Support Group with a trained facilitator where comfort can be found and experiences can be shared among patients and family members. A donation of $100.00 helps supply laboratory researchers with supplies and materials critical to carrying out their search for cures. A donation of $1000.00 makes possible one-on-one conversations with health care specialists who provide patients with information about their disease, treatment options, and helps prepare them with questions for their health care team.
