Racing to Save Lives!
Welcome to my Team In Training home page!
This past May, I committed to Team in Training's vigorous training sessions to participate in Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco THIS OCTOBER. This is an amazing goal to be running towards (literally) as we are doing this for those in need, and its an amazing personal goal as finishing a 26-mile marathon is no easy task!
To make this happen, I have to raise at least $4,000 dollars to make our TNT group goal of $1 million total, and will be doing my part to help the fight against cancer by completing the Marathon this fall!
***THE BLOG IS UP!!! : http://isrunssf.blogspot.com***
Check out all that we've been doing while training!!
I have met some amazing people while training, including a diverse set of people that have been affected by diseases that we are supporting through our fundraising. I'll list the blog link as soon as we're up and running, and will be able to let you know more about my training schedule, our tasks (we're HILL TRAINING now!) and about the people I've been meeting along this journey.
I want to thank all of my family, friends, colleagues (and homies around the world!) that have been in support of me taking on this "crazy", "insane", "daunting" task this year, and hope that you continue to stay interested, involved and supportive!
If you can give, EVERY DOLLAR HELPS. Seriously. $4,000 to raise is no small thing, and I appreciate ALL THE HELP I CAN GET! If we can get beyond that goal, it'd be AWESOME. Imagine what we can do as a group - the amount we pull together says a LOT about support.
Please make a donation here to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. I have until October before the actual event to raise all of this, so please feel free to come back later if you need, but please come back!
Want to sponsor? There's no set up here to pay per mile - so know this: a FULL MARATHON is 26.2 miles. I AM GOING TO FINISH. Calculate your amount by 26 (I got the .2 *wink*) and that should be the amount of donation. :)
Want to give more? See if your company does a corporate match! Some companies will match your donation to charity. Speak to HR to find out if your employer does the same.
Universal employees: Please see the HR Page under Policies/Forms and find the Matching Contribution Form. There is a minimum of $50, but you can get that matched and help get me closer to my goal!
Need a TAX BREAK? Donations to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) are 100% TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Of course, it works like this: the more you give, the more you can take off next spring, but know its going to a good cause! ALL online donations will email a receipt as well. If you donate via check - anything paid over $250 can get an automatic receipt. Keep a copy of your check, etc for your tax purposes.
For those of you interested in donating in another form than through this page, please email me at isis.arias@gmail.com. I also have a PayPal account, and can give that information as well.
Perspectives:
$25 = 5 Starbucks lattes, a few drinks out with friends, or brunch on Sunday...
OR
$25 could mean...A copay for a cancer patient, free booklets with information explaining a newly diagnosed patient's disease and treatment options, or a cab to the hospital for someone's weekly chemo or radiation.
$50 = concert ticket or pair of shoes...
OR
$50 could mean...Funding for a family support group with trained facilitator, or registration for 1 person to be a bone marrow donor.
Donating to LLS to send me to San Fran in October - PRICELESS!!!
More information on our goals! :
I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Drop a dollar, leave me love! Your comments help me get through these training sessions - it means a lot! Visit often & be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. :)
Thank you for your support!
