1.5 km swim, 40 km bike ride, 10 km run= Olympic distance Triathlon
Sabrina needs all your support to cross the ultimate finish line!
On September 11th 2011, I will be racing for the Nation’s Triathlon in Washington DC to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Yes, it is real and serious!
I have been always a “destination” and “fearless” person. These characters help me to pursue my dream- studying in the best country w/ scholarship, completing my Master’s degree, working for the best company in the field, etc.
However, about six months ago, for the first time I stopped to ask myself, “Am I happy? What do I really want?” It was a little scary and honestly brought me to tears many times. Luckily I was surrounded by all of you, my dearest and positive friends. I am very grateful to you, especially to M. He was such a great person who taught me to simply be myself; to stop trying to be the coolest person around; to make plans and take actions instead of sitting around thinking and whining; to enjoy now and the process not only excited by the destination. For example, I finally chose to race for the Nation’s Triathlon in Washington, D.C. rather than the Marathon in Dublin, which has a more amazing destination. The reason is that the 3-month triathlon training is more challenging and enjoyable to me than the marathon/running only training. But if it were six months ago, I might have choose to run for the Marathon in Dublin just because I want to go Dublin. :)
Two weeks ago, I went Skydiving. It was such an awesome experience and I would definitely do it again (if you haven’t done so, please let me know and we can go together)!
Knowing what you want and what makes you happy, and then having the guts to actually go get it makes a difference. I want to do something that I've never done or thought I could not do before, and racing for a cause is the thing.
During the next three months, I will be training as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training, which is the world's first and best charity sports training program. In exchange for training and support, I help raise money towards cures for blood cancers like leukemia -- the No. 1 disease killer of children -- lymphoma and myeloma. Do you know the severity of blood cancer? Every four minutes, someone new is diagnosed with blood cancer. Every 10 minutes, someone dies.
If you have a chance to save a life, would you give a hand to make a difference? Can you donate $1 for a mile? 51.5km=32 miles=$32. How far would you go to save a life? Your donations, which are tax-deductible, will be donated directly to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
