We are: Debbie, Corina, Mellisa, Lisa, Kristen, Faranak, Rachael, Simer and Mana and we are raising money in honour of Sammy and all the little ones fighting cancer

We all face challenges in life. Some we take on by choice and others life throws our way unexpectedly. Sammy, at age 5, faced one of the most difficult challenges any one could dream of.  Sammy was diagnosed with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in September of 2014. Sammy’s bravery, relentless joy for life, his will and unimaginable determination in the face of this mindless disease has been an inspiration for so many and the heart beat behind Team Sammy.

One year ago, as Sammy started to put a very intensive year of treatment behind, several of us came together and formed Team Sammy to raise money for a very important organization, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We challenged ourselves to run our first ever race, 10 kilometers, and raise money while doing so!! It seemed impossible at first, but we pushed and motivated each other and most importantly friends and family and many strangers affected by cancer showed us tremendous generosity and love. It was so humbling, and we achieved what we couldn’t once imagine. We ran our first 10K with a team of wonderful friends and raised close to $18,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).

So, once again on June 10^th we are choosing to take on a challenge in honor of Sammy and all his friends undergoing treatment at Cornell Medical Center in NY. We are joining Team In Training, to raise both awareness and funds to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in their never ending efforts to find cures and more effective treatment for blood cancers.

We are running as a team because:

• Children shouldn’t have to battle this monstrous disease. No one should. But they are not given a choice. We have one. So we run and put all our might into the only thing that makes sense - raising money for research in Sammy’s name and all those whose lives we honor and memories we treasure.
• Someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer every 3 minutes.  They are mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends, and co-workers who struggle every day to fight.
• The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding research, finding cures and ensuring access to treatments for blood cancer patients.
• Whenever we talk about cancer, we always use the same word. Someday. Someday there will be a cure. Someday we won’t lose the people we love. But when is someday? Together we will make, someday today.
