In September of 2013 I was diagnosed with Stage 2A Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Over the last 6 months I have had chemo, surgeries, ER visits, an overnight hospitalization, and Radiation. I’ve also continued to do my best being a mom 2 wonderful children and to keep working as a Pediatric Nurse at NYU Medical Center. Now that my cancer is in remission my next step is to get back and shape, meet some new moms, and to raise money.
Ironically, I ran and fundraised with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team in Training (TNT) in 2008 and completed the Nike Women's Half-Marathon in San Francisco. That race I ran in honor and memory of the oncology patients I help every day at work, this race I run for me. Hodgkin's Lymphoma is 98% curable; who knows what percentage it would be without the LLS and TNT. I am so excited to meet other moms who want to help cure Hodgkin's Lymphoma and other Blood Cancers and I am very happy to be part of the amazing cause that has saved my life.
I am training with Moms in Training to run the Oakley New York Mini 10K, a New York Road Runner event, on Saturday June 14, 2014 and my goal is to raise $10,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
