What would you do to make a difference?
UPDATE: I have reached my minimum goal for Lake Placid, please direct further contributions to my fall season page here:

As many of you know, I completed two half marathons and one full marathon with Team in Training last year. Running the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco was an incredibly emotional experience. I was surrounded by more than 5,000 runners who had raised over $18 million to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's efforts to find a cure for all blood related cancers. My NYC team members and I who ran that particular race finished off the season by raising just over $1 million - the most ever raised in one season by the NYC chapter. After crossing the finish line in San Francisco, I knew that it definitely was not my last marathon and that I could not have gotten there without the incredible support of TNT.
This season, I am mentoring an awesome group of new runners on our team and participate in the Lake Placid Half Marathon, on June 14, 2009. Being involved with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has been an amazing experience. Knowing the difference that our team makes by raising money to fund cancer research and aid patient services is more meaningful than crossing the finish line. Seeing survivors thankful for people like you and me who have donated to the cause makes me so proud to be a part of the TNT team.
As a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training Program, I will once again be raising money for leukemia, Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and myeloma research and patient assistance programs. TNT and the LLS work diligently together to cure blood cancers. They also work in conjunction with other cancer organizations to facilitate research and coordinate studies.
The economy seems to be on everyone's mind these days, and you may question whether you can afford to make a contribution. The truth is that cancer does not relent when the economy slows down. People are continuing to suffer and it is more important than ever that patients and families have the resources that The Society provides and we need to work even harder to ensure they stay available.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
love,
Sarah
