Daniel didn't want to be an "inspiring cancer story," but he inspired us all anyway. He inspired us with his strength, and his love, and his warm sense of humor that lasted through it all.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) has been a part of Daniel and Paige's lives since he was diagnosed with Leukemia over three years ago. Through treatments LLS had helped to fund, patient services that connected them to survivors who could give advice and support, and other resources, LLS helped make their journey a little easier.
When Dan was first diagnosed, Paige joined Team in Training, the LLS charity running team, and ran the Rome Marathon and the Nike Women's Half Marathon and raised over $10,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Instead of flowers, please make a donation in Dan's memory to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Daniel and Paige loved to go on adventures together: giving themselves memories to cherish. They also loved giving to others: Dan through film and Paige through laughter.
Paige promised Daniel that she would continue the adventure.
This fall she plans to go back to San Francisco to run the Nike Women's Half Marathon again with Team in Training because it is a race full of wonderful memories for a cause close to both of their hearts.
Please help other patients in Daniel's memory and support Paige in her goal to run 13.1 miles in Daniel's honor to raise money to fight cancers.

Your donation will help fund developments in treatments for blood cancers and important support programs for patients and their families. LLS has been invested for over 50 years in finding cures for blood cancers, and in that time survival rates have quadrupled for some types of blood cancers. Daniel's death will leave a void in the lives of everyone who knew him long after the sadness has receded. His life made ours better. His cancer story isn't what defined him, but in his memory we can be inspired to fight against cancers, so that others may not know this type of loss. Thank you for giving.

" I worked with Daniel (as I knew him) at Barnes and Noble for many years. I actually remember a conversation we had where he said he used to know a girl named Paige that he hated so he shuddered to hear the name. "But now my girlfriend's name is Paige, so it's starting to sound much nicer." I never met Paige, but I am a half-marathon runner too and will sign up for the next New York event if I can. My condolences for your loss, he was a terrific guy, one of my favorite people to work with. "
