Only 1 day left! I'm really excited and a bit scared. I think I've trained well but once the race starts it'll be more of a mental challenge. Hopefully I can make it with in a semi-good time (below 2:30!) and injury-free. I've had issues with my knee and ankle so I'm hoping they don't decide to flare up again anytime during the race. But at that point it'll all be up to me. Right now I'm still in need of help from my friends/family. I need less than $450 to reach my goal (the total to the right is missing some funds). That means I'll need 18 people to donate $25 or 9 people to donate $50. Doesn't seem like much but it's a HUGE help to not only me but to the patients of Leukemia & Lymphoma. Please, please donate any amount and I'll appreciate it more than you can imagine.
Hey guys! So the day of my race is coming closer and closer but honestly I haven't been focusing too much on the fundraising side. So in order to try and get a few more donations I've decided to have a raffle. For every $25 you donate you'll be entered to win a $100 American Express gift card. If you donate $50 you'll have two chances to win, etc. I'm only having this contest until September 6 so hurry and enter! :D
Hi! As you can see I am running in the Hamptons Half Marathon this year on September 24th. I am part of the Team in Training team who helps raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. As part of my training I will also be helping to raise money for people suffering from blood cancers. This money will not only help with their medical bills but also to help them through the battle emotionally. There are a few facts below that will tell you just how your money will be used. Please remember every amount counts. Nothing is too little! Anything you donate is tax deductible so keep the confirmation for next year.
$50 will register 1 person to be a bone marrow donor.
$75 will provide HLA (bone marrow) typing for a family member of a patient with leukemia.
$100 will pay for the cost of 4 patient’s chemotherapy drug prescription co-payments.
$300 will train 25 peer volunteers who can provide emotional support to newly diagnosed patients.
$500 will provide patient aid to a person with Leukemia or a related cancer for a year.
$1,000 allows patients to meet with health care specialists to design and discuss their disease, treatment plan and prepare them with the info they will need during the treatment process.
$2,000 provides patients with a one month supply of Gleevec.
As you can see, this is such a great cause! Thank you for visiting my page and for those who donated - you are the very best! <3
