Racing to Save Lives
The Marine Corps Marathon is now less than one month away!
I completed my first (and last) 21 mile run last Saturday, which involved a there and back to Coney Island (sadly, we did not stop for a hot dog) with some extra miles in Prospect Park.
Thanks again to everyone who donated to my page. I've officially reached my fundraising goal!
I'm training to participate in the Marine Corps Marathon on October 25, 2009 as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is dedicated to battling leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma by raising money through their Team in Training Program.
Here's how they do it: TNT provides novice runners like yours truly with experienced coaching and support in exchange for the money I raise. So in order to actually participate in the Marine Corps Marathon this fall, I need to raise $3,200 for the team.
This is such a fantastic cause, and it'll be pretty awesome if I manage to run the full 26.2 miles in a decent time (say, under 5 hours).
I realize times are tough, but I'm asking you to help me reach my goal and advance LLS's mission. Any amount would be much appreciated.
Thanks for your support!
p.s. Context of photo: During a hike in Cold Spring, NY, we stumbled upon this enormous well. I realize it doesn't make a ton of sense here, but I am wearing running clothes in it. An actual running photo, TK.
p.p.s. I haven't actually managed to remember to bring my camera on a run. This hiking photo is probably going to stay up here for awhile.
