My progress So, it's already been FOUR MONTHS with Team in Training! The time has gone by so quickly. During those four months I have made tremendous progress in my "running career". When I started running again in 2006 I was thrilled to make 10 minute miles, but NOW I am in the 8-9 minute mile range. AWESOME! Here are some of my other accomplishments for the season: •I completed my first half marathon in Queens! • I survived one of Coach Ramon's insane "hill months" and am in the midst of my second. • I got down to an 8:00.00 mile split on my last mile during the Fitness Magazine 4 mile race in Central Park! • I survived TEN HILL REPEATS in ONE PRACTICE! • I ran the Brooklyn and Williamsburg Bridge (hills hills hills) as part of a 15 mile run. • I ran on traffic-less Park Avenue for three weekends in August (fun!) • I survived the Washington Bridge run which included lots of hills, some crazy trail running and a really painful bee sting on my ankle. • I learned to enjoy stretching AND yoga (you laugh, but this is a big accomplishment for me) • I logged a 43:25 for the 5-mile Hope and Possibility Run...my first race as a faster Emily • I survived one of Coach Ramon's crazy Cross-Training Runs which left me sore but stronger • I ran at the cross-country mecca of the Northeast, VanCortlandt Park, in the sweltering heat of June All in all, I'd say I've had a pretty good season so far. And I am SO glad that I've joined TNT. It has been a GREAT experience! Racing to Save Lives Hello! It's me, Emily! (I'm the one in the middle, with the pink medal and the pigtails). Welcome to my Team In Training home page. I'm so excited to be training for the Marine Corps Marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training! All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team. Training for a marathon is hard work. It takes a lot of effort, endurance and discipline. But it also takes support! I have now run three marathons and couldn't have made it across the finish line without the love and support from my husband, my parents and my friends ("Oh! That's all those people in the picture!" Well, minus my parents, who were taking the picture). This marathon is especially important to me. Not only will I be running in my fourth marathon, but I will also be raising funds for an important and wonderful cause. So I am asking for your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure! Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. I hope you will visit my web site often. Check back frequently to see my fundraising progress and check out my blog for my training progress. Thanks for your support! Emily |
