Racing to Save Lives
Hola y bienvenidos to my team in training home page! As many of you may know, I recently signed up to run the Country Music Marathon on April 25, 2009 in Nashville. What you may not know is that I'm running it as part of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training. What does that mean? Basically, they help me train for a marathon and I help raise money for leukemia, Hodgkim and non-Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma research and patient services programs.
My goal is to raise $3800 by February 18. It may seem like a lot but the money I raise will go towards curing the #1 disease killer of children and adults under the age of 20 (leukemia) and that's nothing to sneeze at! I am positive that if everyone I know gave just $26 ($1 a mile!!) I would be well above my goal!! (Of course, ANY amount you give would be greatly appreciated!!) Another thing to keep in mind (and I'm throwing this in for my sister), your donation is 100% tax-deductible!!
One other thing: Many of the people training for a Team in Training event have an honored teammate that they train on behalf of and wear their name on their jersey when they run. If there is someone you know who you would like me to train on behalf of, please let me know!
Thank you so much for your consideration and be sure to check my page regularly as I will be updating it with my running and fundraising progress and will post a link to my nikePlus page so you can actually see my runs graphed! Oooh the excitement I know!!
Thanks again!! :)

December 25, 2008: Merrrry Christmas! My present to you? I created a blog that you can follow to kill time at work!! :)
December 13, 2008: First race of the season! We ran the Holiday 4-miler in Central Park! I got stuck in the back and spent the first two miles weaving in and out of people, but still managed to do them in under 10 minutes. My overall time was about 42 min so I can't complain. Next Saturday: 15K! =x AHHHH!
December 11, 2008: Ok, Tuesday's Group Training session introduced us to Ramon's crazy cross-training session. It was brutal and two days later I can still barely move. The first time in SEVEN years of running that I actually wanted to CRYYYY. But, "pain is weakness leaving the body" ... riiiiight?
November 22, 2008: Our first Group Training Session in Central Park! Good God it was cooolldd (24 degrees!) but I ran 3.4 miles which I felt was a good place to start as a first run!
