Racing to Save Lives
(And celebrating Rob's 30th all at the same time!)
Rob and Mel have decided to participate in a full marathon (San Diego Rock 'n' Roll on June 5th, 2011) as members of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. Mel completed a marathon with Team In Training in 2003, and has had the itch ever since to complete another. Rob thought this would be the perfect way to celebrate his big 3-0 in June and prove how young he still is! :)
Everyone on Team In Training is raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. Rob and Mel are completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on their team, and they need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support Rob and Mel's participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. Be sure to check back frequently to see their progress!
Thank you for your support! And yes, they might be crazy but hey, it is for a good cause!

Honored Heros:
Emmy Lou McGraw
Mel's Great Aunt Emmy Lou has been fighting her fight against Leukemia for many years.
Jim Paige
Jim Paige’s whole world changed on November 30th, 2010. Later that day, he would complain of shortness of breath and how tired he was. His wife, Diane Paige, drove him to Oakwood Hospital that evening and he was admitted to the hospital immediately. The next day, his family was told there was a good likelihood that he had Leukemia. On December 3rd, 2010, he was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia. Since December, he has completed three rounds of chemotherapy and to date is 100% cancer free. Everyone is very encouraged with his strength. Currently, he is at the University of Michigan Hospital where he just completed his stem cell transplant. Luckily, his sister, Jeanne Nagy, was a match and was able to donate her stem cells to him. Please keep up your positive thinking and prayers for Jim’s health. The next few weeks are very critical to the success of his treatments. Jim is the father of Rob's highschool classmate, Lisa Paige.
