WELCOME!
Thanks for stopping by.
Many of you know and have supported (Thank you!) my efforts to help find a cure for cancer with Team in Training and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. When I began my adventure with TNT in 2012, it started because of my brother's battle with lymphoma. Thankfully, the chapter of his story shadowed with cancer has had a very happy ending.
But during that time and in the years that followed, I have met many more survivors and also families affected by cancer and loss. Old friends came out of the woodwork to share with me their private stories of loss and pain when cancer entered their lives. When I ran the Aramco Half Marathon in Houston back in 2013, I ran for my brother and for those friends whose lives will never be the same because of that diagnosis.
This fall, I am taking on a bigger challenge, a 135-mile, two-day cycle event in Texas Hill Country.
The cynical part of me thinks, how can we ever make a difference? How is it possible to ever find a cure for cancer? But then, any hard thing seems impossible until it is done. My great-grandfather died of cancer when my grandmother was still a child. And yet, if he were alive today, that same cancer would not be fatal. His wife and children would have been blessed with many more years with him. The same is true of so many survivors I have met--more and more people are conquering cancers that not long ago were practically death sentences.
Cancer research is advancing at an exponential rate. I know there will be a day when we will find the answers we are looking for and cancer will be a plague of the past.
This summer, I am raising funds to help find cures and ensure access to treatments blood cancer patients. But even better than that, a lot of the research that LLS is funding helps people suffering from many different types of cancer.
I am asking for your help on this journey. Your donation helps fund treatments that save lives. Please make a donation in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help get us all closer to a world without blood cancers--check that--a world without CANCER.
Thank you!
