Hello Everyone!
The Half-Marathon training continues... I bought a new pair of running shoes and learned I have a wide toe base, and narrow heals - like a duck, I guess. I'm running at a pace of 4 miles an hour, which I was proud of until I learned one of the other Team in Training guys can run 7 miles in that same time. Hmm.
But what is really important here is WHY I'm out there. My Honor Hero, Jason Harmon, is getting treatment from MD Anderson in Houston now. His Dallas doctors said there was nothing else they could do, and gave him a very short time to live. Jason is continuing his fight to survive, inspiring me to keep running for him and so many other leaukemia and lymphoma patients. And there are thousands out there -- this last weekend, my friend Kelly and I drove to Dallas to get on the bone marrow registry. Held at North Park Center, it took about 15 minutes to swab the inside of my cheek and fill out some paperwork. Well worth it, I think.
As I've written before, the Seattle Half-Marathon is at the end of June. I'm about half-way through my training and have raised 15% of the necessary fundraising . I need to have 25% raised within a week. IF I DON'T RAISE THE MONEY, I CAN'T GO TO SEATTLE AND RUN/WALK (HELL, MAYBE EVEN CRAWL) TO FINISH THE RACE FOR JASON.
