Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
As you may already know, this September will mark my 7th year in remission from Hodgkin's Lymphoma! In celebration of this important milestone in my life, I have decided to run a marathon to raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society! I am a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. My teammates and I are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's lymphoma (the one I had) and myeloma from taking more lives.
I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers and for those who supported me in my own battle. For me, fighting cancer was much like a marathon. The prognosis and treatment is long and grueling. It takes a great deal of time and dedication; however, the end result is fabulous! My husband, Wesley, and I believe the Lord has called me to give others hope through my testimony of His healing work in me. We can have VICTORY through Christ!
I have been training for several months. I recently finished my first half marathon (13.1 miles) in 2 hours 19 minutes! Please support me in my goal to raise $7,000.00 in honor of my 7 years of remission with 2,900.00 raised before the marathon. I plan to run my first marathon in San Antonio on November 15, which is 7 years and 2 months from the date I received my stem cell transplant at MD Anderson Cancer Center. I am passionate about the cause and passionate about the life God has enabled me to live.
To support me in my effort, simply enter the amount you would like to donate (on the right of this page), then click on "Donate Now" to give a tax deductible donation online OR mail a check made out to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to my home address at 145 Bridle Path, Stephenville, TX 76401. I will make sure the check goes toward my goal to raise $7,000.00 for 7 years in remission!!
Thank you so much for what you have done for me already. I would not be healthy enough to run a marathon without the Lord's provision and your prayer and support. I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support and feel free to share this link with others who might be passionate about the cause!
