I'm training to participate in the Rock N' Roll half marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers, but also in special memory of Aaron Hernandez. He is a childhood friend of my husband and has just lost his long battle with Leukemia. He is truly an inspiration! These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

*Update* 9/10/09

We ran the full 13 miles last week! As hard as it was, I just can't help but think how it doesn't even compare to what Aaron and his family are going through. Sadly, the doctors have only given a few more days to live. Tomorrow, Sept. 11th, is Aaron's birthday. Adam and several of Aaron's friends plan on going to his hospital room to celebrate not only Aaron's birthday, but to rejoice over the past 27 years they have all gotten to spend with him. Please keep him and his family in your prayers.

Aaron went to be with the Lord last night on his 27th birthday. Thank you to all who have been praying and a big thank you for those who have made a donation. Hopefully, we can help find a cure so that this doesn't have to happen in the future.
