Anyone who knew Mom knew her energy and enthusiasm for life! My goal is to channel that energy into an amazing cause and finally run a MARATHON in Mom's honor!! Many of you know how long over due this goal is for me and I'm finally now in a position to make it happen!
I'm going to run in the Inaugural Rock & Roll Marathon in San Antonio on November 16th with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
I am completing this event in honor of Mom who lost her battle to Lymphoma in 1999, as well as all individuals who are battling blood cancers or lost their lives! These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
A donation of ANY amount is greatly appreciated as it takes every penny possible to find a cure!
Some ideas for amounts to donate:
- $52....that's $2 for each mile I will run!!
- $88....because there is now an 88% chance of survival for children under 5 yrs. old diagnosed with Acute Lymphocitic Leukiemia.
- $288....Equivalent to $1 for each person who will be diagnosed with a blood cancer in the next 24 hours
- $365..... That's $1 for everyday of the year that someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer
- $589..... The number of miles I wll run to train for this event!!
- $1000....the amount it costs for one night stay in the hospital hotel (that's what Mom called it :) I can't even remember how many nights I stayed with her at her hotel room in the hospital)
